Barbara Farber is one of three members of the Police Services Board appointed by the Province of Ontario. She was appointed on 31 January 2001 for a two-year term.

Barbara Farber was born and raised in Ottawa. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts Degree at York University in Toronto, she returned to Ottawa to manage the family owned business of real estate development and dairy farming founded by her grandfather, Harry Leikin. Barbara is the Chief Executive Officer of the Leikin Group.

Barbara holds positions currently on several boards: - Greater Ottawa Chamber of Commerce-Government Relations Committee; National Board of Canada-Israel Committee and Cisco Ottawa Advisory Board. She is a member of Building Owners and Managers Association and has held past presidencies on the Jewish Community Council of Ottawa and Queensway-Carleton Hospital Foundation.
 
 

Jim MacEwen, a resident of Orléans, is one of the three members of the Ottawa Police Services Board appointed by the Province of Ontario. He was appointed 1 February 2001 for a two-year term.

During his 35 years with the Federal Government, Jim worked in various departments and finished his career as Director of Priority Administration at the Public Service Commission in Ottawa.

Jim has an extensive background in labour relations, mediation and arbitration.
 
 

Mr. John A. McCombie was sworn in as a member of the then Ottawa-Carleton Regional Police Services Board in February 1999. He serves on the Board as one of three Provincial appointees.

Mr. McCombie is the first retired police officer to be appointed to the Police Services Board. He retired from the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Police Service with the rank of Superintendent after 41 years of service.

Mr. McCombie's policing education includes graduation from the FBI National Academy, Quantico, Virgina; the RCMP College, Ottawa, Ontario; the Ontario Police College, Alymer, Ontario; and the Royal Military College, Kingston, Ontario. Mr. McCombie has lectured at Algonquin College on Law and Security. During his policing career, Mr. McCombie founded the Underwater Search and Recovery Squad for the Ottawa Police Force. He was also officially commended for bravery by the Board of Commissioner of Police for Ottawa.

In addition to serving the community as a police officer, Mr. McCombie has served on the Board of Directors of the Ottawa-Carleton Regional Housing Authority, the Liquor License Board of Ontario, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and the Brighton Beach Aquatic Club. An avid golfer and boater, John is a past President of The Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.
 
 

Danielle Morin is the first citizen appointee to the Police Services Board under the newly amalgamated City of Ottawa. She is currently Vice President Sales and Marketing for CS CO-OP Community Financial Services, and brings to this appointment extensive experience in strategic planning, leadership, and negotiating skills.

Danielle is a University of Ottawa graduate with a Bachelor of Administration. In 1992, she received an Executive MBA from Concordia University in Montreal.

Over the years, Danielle has played an active role in the fabric of Ottawa's community. She served on the Board of Directors of the Year 2000 Special Olympics, and also serves on the Boards of the Ste. Genevieve Church and Credit Counselling Services of Ottawa. Danielle is currently on the Board, and serves on the Finance Committee, of Tapestry House, which supports and re-energizes caregivers of all kinds.
 
 

Councillor Dwight Eastman was appointed to the Ottawa Police Services Board by his fellow City of Ottawa Councillors in January 2001.

Dwight was first elected to West Carleton Township Council in 1991 and served as Mayor of that municipality from 1994 to 2000. A fiscal conservative, Dwight created a workable balanced approach during his two terms as Mayor - maintaining municipal taxation levels while enhancing quality of life for its residents. As the City of Ottawa Councillor representing West Carleton (Ward 5), he is responsible for the largest geographically area in the new City of Ottawa.

A fourth generation farmer, and life-long resident of West Carleton, he and his two sons manage a family farm, raising beef cattle on an agricultural operation covering over 1,000 acres. Dwight is also a graduate in Business Administration and worked as a systems analyst consultant for nearly 20 years. Dwight is the Past Director of the West Carleton Airport Authority; Past President of the Arnprior Area Federation of Agriculture and Past President of the Carleton-Grenville Cattlemen's Association. Dwight is also a Past Committee Chair of the Independent Seniors Housing Study.

Herb Kreling, is one of the two members of Regional Council appointed by his fellow Councillors to represent them on the Ottawa Police Services Board. Herb was first elected to Regional Council in November 1994 to represent the Orléans Ward R1. Having eighteen years experience in various positions in municipal government, he has been an active member (Vice-president 1991, and President 1992-1993) of the Fallingbrook Community Association. He continues his community involvement through the four Community Associations and two Chambers of Commerce in the Ward. He has served on the Ottawa Economic Development Corp. (formally OCECO) and the Region's 9-1-1 Management Board, and continues to serve on the Region's Transportation Committee, Community Services Committee, OC Transpo Commission, the Ottawa Life Sciences Council and the Ottawa Community Network Committee.
 

Jacques Legendre was first elected to City and Regional Councils in November 1991, and now represents Rideau-Rockcliffe (R-13), which includes New Edinburgh, Lindenlea, the Village of Rockcliffe Park, Manor Park, the Rockcliffe Military Base, Carson's Woods, Forbes and Overbrook on City Council.

As a member of Council, Jacques has focused on land use planning & transportation matters, environmental issues and economic development. Jacques was a Board member of the Ottawa Economic Development Corp. (formerly OCEDCO) during his first two terms. During his first term on Council, Jacques was a member of the Ottawa Public Library Board and the Regional Health Committee. As a Franco-Ontarian, Jacques has been active in the promotion of equal access to services in both official languages. In this, he has ensured that particular promotional strategies have been sensitive to the cultural context.

A physicist, Jacques was involved in research in optics and electro-magnetism for more than 16 years - most of those at the National Research Council (NRC). His career at the NRC also included the areas of strategic planning and reporting, international affairs and that of Executive Assistant to the President. Jacques holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the University of Ottawa and a Doctorate from McGill.

Jacques has lived in Ottawa for 36 years, is married and has two daughters and two sons. He enjoys reading, skiing, cycling and hiking
