I will refer to Quebec City, to the concern of people I spoke to, about marching on Nov 17 and their concern there might be the same clashes with police, the same teargas as Quebec City.
I will describe seeing the police tackle two people, beside and immediate behind me, then suddenly finding myself facing an advancing line of police, chanting and beating with their sticks. The disbelief at being struck, that the police seemed to be acting like automatons and not entirely conscious of what they were doing. Of the consciousness that gradually built, that we were regarded by the police as a threat, that they would move on us if there was a tiny hint of stepping out of line, that there was no sense that they were just keeping order. And that any actions I saw were originated by police.
They have said they have videos showing aggressive actions being prepared.
I hope they wil make a presentation of some of the video footage they took,
for they were filming the whole downtown core for a month before the march
- as I was advised by a police inspector after the event.
